Is it Autumn yet?
Like Emma, winter wardrobes are my fave: they're full of chunky knits scarves, leather boots and wooly coats. This weather has spurred on some wardrobe dreaming! However, knowing I should be embracing the 'summer', I refuse to go shopping for the next season (even though the shops are full of it). I have even stopped myself internet shopping too, at the risk of spending all my money in preparation for the months ahead. I'm also fully aware that come October I'll be pining for the summer back! So I thought I'd show how me and my wardrobe are handling this particularly bad English weather.
I realise that this outfit is definitely more September ish than the middle of August due to the colours, but you could mix it up with a coral shirt and white jeans for that summer vibe (but also still leaving you prepared for this crazy weather!) Lets hope we will all be back in shorts and dresses soon!
Lots of love,
Lauren xo
High (-ly stressed out) Summer
Monday, 11 August 2014
Summer is such a bitch.
Yep, I've said it.
And I have a sneaky suspicion that I'm not the only one who's getting a bit pissy with the good old English weather.
For anyone who's above a size ten, summer can be a right...well, bitch. When you can't squeeze your size 12 arse in to a pair of short shorts, or you have trouble cramming your boobs in to a teeny-tiny crop top, your summer shopping trips can become the thing of nightmares. Gone are the dreams of strutting down the beach in a high waisted bikini (note to the public: unless you're Beyonce, high waisted bikini bottoms are a challenge, to say the least) or dancing the night away in a cute little co-ord. Instead you find yourself stuck in the bleak realms of maxi dresses and shapeless shifts, not exactly the California beach babe summer look that you were originally going for.
But do not despair, help is on hand in the form of the fit and flare dress. An absolute summer saviour for us curvy girls. And don't just take my word for it, some of our favourite fashionable celebs have been spotted in this flattering fit.
These little wonder dresses are the perfect shape for hiding the two main problem areas: tummy and thighs. The lining down the centre of the dresses creates an amazing silhouette, skimming perfectly over any muffin top and giving your boobs a perky (yet contained!) shape.
The length falls flatteringly just around the knee, allowing you to flash a bit of flesh without having to worry about thigh dimples or the dreaded cellulite.
The block colour also works to slim you down and means that you can add a huge statement necklace if you're looking for a more glam look.
But for those of us mere mortals who don't have the budget of VB, the high street has got some perfect copies. Head to New Look and snap up their coral and black versions at just £20.00 a pop!

And Voila, your summer outfit crisis is sorted. Stock up in a few colours like me and you've got one for every occasion, meaning you can stop stressing about what to wear and enjoy these last few weeks of sun (ok, maybe I'm being a tad ambitious with sun...) Enjoy these last few weeks of weird stormy cloudy occasionally sunny windy weather!

Hello...my name is (insert rude word here).

After having a little browse through the blog (by browse, I mean stalk, by blog, I mean Lauren's post about her fabulous floral pants) I realised that I am majorly letting the team down! Getting carried away with my new found obsession with all things Disney, I completely forgot to do a little introductory piece and launched straight in to my first style post, a how to on pinching Minnie Mouse's style (who wouldn't want to look like a mouse / Princess??)
But better late than never!
So, everything you need to know is this:
I'm Emma (the blonde one).
I would love to say that I don't live up to the stereotype but I am admittedly a wee bit dozy / lacking in common sense.
I split my time between the North - a little town outside Liverpool - and Bristol.
I'm an awful cook but I never stop eating; I love summer but prefer winter clothes, and in my head I'm Victoria Beckham even though I'm blonde and not married to Davey B (I live in hope).
And that's about it. Everything else I'm sure will find it's away in to a post at some point, I have an incredible knack for rambling on about absolutely nothing.
Oh, and I am unashamedly obsessed with clothes. To the point that I get a little adrenaline rush every time I buy something. I do realise that this may be a problem, but hey ho, I can now count every purchase as 'research' for the blog!
Aaaand finally, because I'm too lazy to to take a half decent selfie, here instead is a lovely picture of some flowers, my second favourite thing. Enjoy.
xo
P.S - for those of you wondering, my clothes in the first pic are as follows:
Coat; River Island
Shirt; Primark
Jeans; Marks and Spencer
Shoes; Topshop

The new blog has me on hyper alert at all times. And I mean ALL times. I have this problem, as a Fine Art student, where all my best creative ideas only come to me at inconvenient times, like the middle of the night (I know.. helpful right???). I'm drifting off to sleep or at 3am, I sit bolt up in bed and attempt to scribble down every word leaking out of my brain before I pass out or lose the ability to write. Sometimes, the next morning I have written pure gold and other times, well, incoherent gibberish, that can hardly count as the English language seems like the best way to describe it.
For the past few nights, this has been a recurring event.
Today, whilst I was on my fourth episode of 'Catfish: The TV Show' (absolutely BOSS programme) I decided I needed to get out of my house and clear my head, without the temptation to watch the person discover that they had in fact been talking to a woman, not a man (I mean...OBVIOUSLY, they always fall for that one).
Forcing myself out of my pj's and into my favourite pair of old Zara ripped skinny jeans, I packed my beautiful dog into my car and drove to Formby beach. I got the chance to understand my scribbles, organise and make actual sense of every idea I have had so far into a list.
I may have had an epiphany, or more than likely, its the combination of my lack of sleep and the fact I have been talking to an animal all day, but basically this blog is to highlight that we are three very different girls and we want to tell you about it! Please, have a gander, leave a comment, tell a friend, become a regular visitor.. whatever floats your boat! Oh and enjoy!
